His Love Will Never Change
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
First John 4:12,
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
Ephesian 2:4-5,
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.
and Romans 5:8,
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Each of us co-writers wrote song segments when we had a few minutes to get together. We wanted a peppy, lively tune to be catchy to keep on our minds even in the hard-to-be perky moments in life. We got a good portion of it finished, but then we all ended up moving before it was completed. We each landed in a different states, separated by hundreds of miles. When we all went our separate ways, the song only needed one more brief session to be done, but it sat in a box. (This was before the Internet was as big a deal as it is now, and people still met in person to do things ha, ha. Still my preference, too.)
Fast forward to the end of May 1992. Kim and I were passing through central Kentucky on our way home from our honeymoon and happened to be going through one of my co-writer’s town. We took a few minutes to stop and quickly get together to finish it. The final session was a success, and we put the song in the finished pile. We have hummed it from time-to-time over the years, but we never saved a listenable recording until now, exactly 34 years later.
God's love is unconditional, sacrificial, unchanging, and demonstrated, without fault, for us to follow His example.
God wants His love to become overflowing in us in all aspects of our lives. In John 15:12 God instructed us to love each just as he loves us all.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
His unchanging love is the greatest gift we will ever be given. Let's share more of it.
