You Have Been Good to Me

I do not think we even come close to fathoming the things God does on a daily basis to watch over us, when we are walking with Him.

Kim has been dedicating a short season to fixing things around her mom's house so she is safe and everything is functioning as it should. One night, neither Kim nor I could sleep. By 4 am, we were looking at each other saying, "WHY CAN'T WE SLEEP?!"

The next morning, Kim's mom found a very beaten-up impact driver on her front step, a door we rarely even use except for deliveries and minor other things. Kim realized what she had thought had been the sound of a raccoon (her mom lives in the woods) had been the sound of someone trying to break into the house. She ran over to the recently painted door handle and deadbolt and saw striations where someone had begun to drill out the lock before I "randomly" had turned on a light when I was unable to get to sleep. If we had not been awake, pacing, turning lights off and on, and banging around ... if she had been here alone ... we do not even want to think about it.

The would be thief (or worse), must have failed Criminal 101. He used a friend's drill with the guy's initials engraved on it. It did not take the police long to figure out what was going on. A wonderful relative dropped of a security system the next couple of days later, and now her home is battened down and secure, whereas it needed some help in that department prior to this.

I can think of many times through life something "should" probably have gone one way in a lot worse direction but took turns that ended up being better in the long run. Psalm 127:1 says:

(A Song of degrees for Solomon.) Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Walking with Him goes hand in hand. If we are working to protect our own life and He is not, our efforts are pointless. But He watches over His children, knows what each of us needs, and is good to us even when we do not always see what He is doing.
